Meet Bri Landry, Founder of Creative Xpressions

Bri Landry is the founder of Creative Xpressions. She joins us to talk about how she got started, her date night events and what's next.

Was there a pivotal moment when you decided to follow your path as an artist?

Yes. Back in July, I had a long week at work, I was planning a bday party for my son, COVID had us all stressed out, and I had 2 parties coming up within the same weekend with more than 10 people at each. As overwhelming as all of that may sound I got it done with ease and no desire to quit. It dawned on me at the second party when I genuinely was in good spirits despite how drained I was. At that moment I knew. I knew God was going to prepare that table for me.

We know you wear many hats other than your beret. What advice would you give to someone interested in starting a business or changing lanes in entrepreneurship?

My advice is to go for it! If you feel happy doing what you’re doing, and you’re making money to be happy...DO ITTT. We should all be able to at least give it a shot.

Where do you seek inspiration? What gets your creative juices flowing?

I seek inspiration through things I watch on tv. I’ll be in the middle of watching a movie and an idea pops up, i write it down, and then I give it a shot on the canvas.

Do you have a favorite photograph or painting that inspires you?

I cant say that there’s one piece in particular because all art inspires me. Everything has a different feeling and I love trying to interpret what it is.

Besides painting, what other ways do you express yourself?

I love to express myself through dance..I also love playing Cajun Martha Stewart in the kitchen. Lol

How would you describe your art style?

Honestly, I haven’t found my style yet. I'm fairly new to the art game and I’m still in the process of learning techniques and colors. I would say my interest is in portraits and trying to get into realistic art.

What has been your favorite painting so far?

My favorite of them all is this black woman I did. She was dark brown, with huge lips, with a blue background. The painting just says a lot when you stare at it to me.

Why do you love what you do?

I love what I do because it allows me to just be myself. I always knew how to draw, color etc, but I was always doubting myself. I was never proud of my work. So to finally be proud of what I do, and to be making income doing it is beyond my imagination.

We see that you do paint parties and date nights. How was your first paint party in comparison to your most recent?

My first paint party was sooo scary for me because I NEVER been to a paint party before. I had no idea how they go, I'd never drawn that amount of canvases in my life lol. My cousin gave me a chance and she gave me advice along the way. Now my most recent parties, i’m so much more organized, it’s not nerve wrecking at all, and we move through much faster.

Can you describe the date night experience for us?

Date Nights are my fav! So imagine this...your s/o has no idea what's going on they just know something is about to happen. They walk into your living room and there’s candles lit everywhere, rose petals leading to a couples paint set up. There’s a bowl of strawberries for snacking, and the ambiance is unmatched. There’s soft R&B playing, and the at home date experience is complete.

What can we expect next from Creative Xpressions? What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future is to definitely expand. I certainly see myself hiring more aspiring artists like me to give them the opportunity to perfect their craft, and hopefully chase their own dreams.

Who are you? Describe the woman you are so our readers can get to know a little about the GABW behind the brand.

So I'm Bri! Mother of 2 little boys. I still work a full time job. I love spending time with family and friends, but I equally love just being alone. If I could change the world I would make it so everyone had an equal shot at achieving their dreams!

Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know?

I want y'all to know that fighting adversity is an everyday battle for almost everyone. You still gotta keep going! ❤️
